I am a stay-at-home mom and sketchy cook.

I wish it weren't the case, but no one ever taught me how to do it. I am very uncomfortable in the kitchen. I once set my kitchen on fire making toast. No lie.

I tend to get kind of distracted...even with a timer. Sometimes I use the smoke-detector like a timer. Really.

My work.

More of my work.

Both the steamer and the pan bought the farm on that one :(

Does this happen to you?

Trying to arrange dinner in an appealing manner...
doesn't change what it is...
a hot dog.

Is this reminiscent of a meal you might serve?

What do you do with grated potatoes?
Make hashbrowns?
Make latkes?

Are you also confused by what to do with food sometimes?

The pie you see in the blog header was, in fact, baked by me. It is proof-positive that anyone can cook.

The purpose of this blog is to help novice and 'hopeless' cooks find some easy-ish things to make and achieve some degree of actual success in the kitchen. And when success is elusive, how to learn from our mistakes and realize we are not alone.

Happy cooking :)
